Logging on to the website
« on: 27 Nov 2017, 08:43 »
Hi all,
I have been having an extremely difficult time logging on to the website. Seems like I am getting rejected time and time again, then mysteriously I have access for reasons I fail to understand - repressed luddite in me maybe? The message that I get is as per the attached screen grab. Can anyone help or has there been a problem over the past two-three months with the login database?

Regards to all.

Hi Chris, this sounds naive but what address ("URL") are you using to access the web site?  If not...

   http://www.swallowyachtsassociation.org/

try that!

Hello Peter,
thanks for your suggestions. I am using the URL you indicated but am still having problems. Tried 5 times to log on via the home page login but eventually succeeded using the alternative login page (?wordpress?) It's getting pretty frustrating as in the past it was a piece of cake. Anyway am in again - eventually.

Regards from Oz.

I always login via the "Login" option at the righthand end of the top menu (under the banner image). That gives you the Wordpress login screen and returns you to the website after you login. It tends to be more reliable than other methods... I find the same goes for the various wordpress based web sites I run myself, like my Seatern blog.

Shark Bay sounds good, I take it "all those creatures and more" didn't include David Attenborough!!! - sorry, mixing threads.

I have exactly the same problem most times I log in. I even had to change my password this time and was rejected again and then suddenly I was allowed in.

If you delete evrything after the .org part after logging on and press return, you'll find you are logged on and back at the home page

Sorry about this problem but I think it's now fixed - please let me know if it isn't. It seemed to be a spurious error message because you should have been logged in even though that message appeared, i.e. despite this message you could navigate to http://www.swallowyachtsassociation.org/ and find you are logged-in. But hopefully that bit of info is now irrelevant and the problem has gone away.
