Storm petrel disaster !
« on: 14 Oct 2021, 22:33 »
So today my son and I both about 11 stone took our swallow petrel out to sail for the first time following a general overhaul. All was going well until my son stepped out of the boat and I’m doing so put his foot through the floor/hull. We were amazed at how thin the ply of the hull is. It did not appear rotten. Our floor does not have any sort of planking so weight is put directly onto the inside of the hull when climbing in and out of the boat. Is this correct or should the boat have some sort of planking to provide a more solid base to put a foot on when entering and exiting the boat? I fear we will be unable to use the boat if it is this fragile! Any thoughts appreciated
