The SeaRaider 22 was conceived, designed and built as a specialist boat for Sail & Oar Raids. Only two SeaRaiders were built so far, "CRAIC" and "LATIS". "CRAIC" is in the top class of Raid boats, worldwide. "CRAIC" was primarily commissioned as a race boat for up to 4 crew. She performed superbly in all the big Raids in Europe, Scotland, Netherlands, France and Italy. Many web references and magazine articles can be found. The boat was innovative and leading the way in many details. She was the first boat by Swallowyachts with an on-demand waterballast system making her planing-light in race mode, and self-righting when being sailed single-handed. The cockpit is self-draining, the ballast-tank is self-draining under sail and engine. The boat is self-tacking. The bottom of the outboarder well can be sealed with a moulded fibreglass flap. Novel at the time was also the use of ultra lightweight carbon windsurfer masts as substrates for topmast and mizzen mast, plus having luff pockets in mizzen and main sail -as windsurfer rigs have- to give the sails a somewhat wingfoil profile on their leading edge for better lift. All combined, the hard chine hull carving in, the huge profiled centreboard, the efficient sails profile, and with an able crew the boat has an incredible small tacking angle of +- 35 degrees and really flies up to windward at well over 6 knots.
As a display boat for the Beale Park Show 2006 the boat was built with great boatbuilding craftmanship and with meticulous attention to detail. For instance, the wooden mast, all rowing thwarts and even the outboarder bracket are built hollow to save weight.
The boat was built for sport on rough waters, and delivers. She -and her sister boat "LATIS" are the fastest specialist raidboats built by Swallowboats. I am her first owner. I am mid sixty now, and feel I should pass the boat on into younger hands for the boat to be continued to be used to her full potential. The boat was maintained as a prize boat, and is in ready-to-raid condition. Presently lying in her own shed in South-West Ireland. Boat comes with german-certified and registered galvanised trailer modified for single-handing launching and recovery.

I myself am not a member of the Swallowyachts Association, but I am advertising "CRAIC" here also as there may be some Swallowboats enthusiast who may wish to acquire this "historic" Swallowboats raidboat which has started their line of waterballasted boats.
