Brass Monkey Club - Bala meet
« on: 22 Nov 2016, 12:36 »
The grand inaugural meeting of the Brass Monkey Club will take place this Friday 25th November.  Start at the town slipway in the NE corner of the lake at around 10am.  The forecast is for cold, some wind from the NE and even a bit of sunshine.  All welcome.  Dress warm!

Having become a southern softy (and because playing the bassoon got in first for 25th), I'm really sorry I can't be there. I hope you all have a great time.

Is this Friday only - or throughout the weekend? If the latter, is anyone sailing on Saturday and in need of a crew? (Ella's sails are at the loft for repair).

And where can the bassoon be heard?

Friday only for me. I'm doing something really nerdy on Saturday.

It really was magnificent weather and great fun.  We even got the spinnaker up.

Anyone thinking of sailing on Bala in the near future will have to find somewhere else to launch than the town slipway.  The lake level has been lowered by nearly a foot since last Friday, revealing large parts of the lake bed at the north end that weren't previously visible.
