Hi Ron, you can read about my BC20 on my blog
http://www.seatern.org.uk/ where the first two years (2013 - 2014) will probably be of most interest to you since I talk about the "non-standard" features of Seatern and also about fitting her out, also how my choice of gear worked out once I actually sailed her. I too sail almost always single handed and when it starts being "force 6 gusting force 7" being able to sail with just jib and mizzen going both down wind and beating does make life much more relaxing!
I'm in Southampton and you are very welcome to visit and look at Seatern, even have a sail if time and tide allows. However Southampton is not very near the Firth of Forth, or Bristol come to that! I'll be at the Swallow Raid at the start of July but not with my BC20 - I'm on one of the safety boats.
The other BC20 blog I know of is Julian Swindell's (
https://jegsboat.wordpress.com ) - his BC20, No. 1, Daisy Grace is in Poole Harbour. I copied some build details from Julian including the boom gallows, and the internal bulkhead; I'm very pleased with both! However whereas Julian added his himself, I had them added during the build.
Other non-standard features I have include 3 wave-boards for the companionway, electric pump to both empty and fill the ballast tanks, a tiller pilot, and a detachable boom, sail-bag, and mast track section which, together with lower shrouds, helps me in shooting an inconveniently low bridge! But by all means come back to me with any questions you have about the BC20, I'll be happy to (try to) answer them!
...and congratulations on a great choice of boat!
Cheers, Peter
