Wooden bar supporting mizzen mast
« on: 31 May 2021, 22:38 »
Hi everyone
As we came to put our mizzen in yesterday we noticed the wooden bar wasn’t quite horizontal. Further inspection showed that one of the screws had failed, so it was only attached on one side. We managed to lash it in place for yesterday's sail and have now replaced both sides with machine screws. It is definitely worth replacing them every few years to avoid failures as it was really hard to get the broken one out but relatively easy to get the good one out. (Our BRe is 10 years old this year, so they’d lasted quite a while.)
