I've switched to 'Electric Outboards' under 'Technical'. Hope that's OK

Two questions:-

1. Anyone else out there using a balanced lug mainsail? What are your tacking angles? (I'm sure I should be going to windward better than I am.)

2. Has anyone found a way of reefing a sprit mizzen "on the hoof"?  Needs something like a roller claw to replace the snotter (see diag)  but how do you stop it falling to the floor? As shown, the sail can be doused  by loosening the outhaul (not shown), unhooking the snotter and pulling the string wound round the mast. Great! the mizzen's gone in a split second - but you can't reef.
I don't want to fit a bumkin instead of a sprit. I'd never get the sailshape right.

OK, that's four questions but who's counting?

(Five now. Getting silly ......)
