Title: Northern Fleet
Post by: markbatey on 15 Mar 2018, 17:13
Hi all,

Not an event as such, but maybe the beginning of an event. (I may be sounding a little Churchillian here...)
The Northern Fleet got together for a curry and a couple of small glasses in Newcastle this week - myself, David Hall, Nick Myerscough, all BC23 sailers, and an interloper, Gerry McBride, who claimed to sail some sort of dinghy called a Cornish Shrimper. A dubious character I thought.

Lots of plans for trailing off to places were on the table, including an April trip to the Clyde, plus some of us trekking to Suffolk and the west coast of Scotland. Others are staying local for the season getting the hang of their new boat. The idea of sailing in a small flotilla and landing at the beach in Cullercoats for an ice-cream was popular - that should frighten off the locals. We also like the idea of an overnight at anchor in the Farne Islands.

So an excellent night out - and anyone in the area would be most welcome to join us next time we hook up.

Cheers

Mark
