Title: Labour saving
Post by: Tony on 12 Mar 2012, 14:58
Needed to waterproof a bit of grotty ply. Out of sight but not out of mind, so gave it a quick sanding down and two coats of Cetol 7. (The spring sunshine had me out pretending to be busy.) Looked OK but, on a whim, gave it an even quicker squirt of Lanogard (http://www.lanoguard.co.uk/) stuff I use on the trailer. (Its made from the lanolin they wash out of sheeps fleeces, I believe.)
Now it looks lovely -  as if I spent hours French Polishing the thing- and water beads up and fairly rolls off!
Down sides? Well, the boat does smell a bit like a Welsh hillside (a change from bilge water) and I don't know how long it will last. A quick squirt once a week would hardly be an effort but I doubt I will remember to do it.
I'll keep you posted.
