I just heard from Laura at Swallow Boats that they are now producing a cockpit tent for the BRe and I have created a blog post with full details and photos:

And not to feel left out, Matt is working on a Cockpit Tent - on a similar design as the BRe - for the BayCruiser 23, I'm hopefully getting one and will let you all know what it's like when it happens.

I have posted before to say that I developed a full (inc mizzen) cockpit tent for my BRe when I took delivery from Matt last august. He has seen it and has photos.
I have full standing headroom (6ft 4) aft of the centre board casing. Photo attached
Anyone who attended the Bala get together this year will have seen it - indeed there are a couple of pics in the gallery.

Roy,
That's an impressive tent. Where did you get it made?
-
It was made by Canvas Man. He has produced covers for 3 boats now for me. The quality and workmanship are of the highest standard. He uses modern digitised techniques and can reproduce the covers from his data banks easily.
Hear is another pic

When the grandchildren arrive, can I put wheels on it?
-
I'm sorry chaps - there is always one isn't there!
If that is a serious comment - I don't understand
If it is a poor attempt at a joke - then your humour is as bad as your eyesight as wheels are clearly visible on both pics

Hello Roy
Off-topic from your excellent tent, I notice in your last photo the rudder appears to have a stainless steel re-enforcement strip on the leading edge and foot. This seems a good idea. Was it fitted as standard by Swallowboats or did you specify it?
Has anyone else fitted a protective strip retrospectively? And perhaps used plastic/rubber or other more resilient or sacrificial material to protect the rudder?

Hi Matthew
Good to hear from you again after Bala.
The 'shoes' was fitted by Matt at my request - there is one on the centre board too.
I can confirm that they work too!
-
I have the same stainless steel protection strips on my rudder and CB. I asked Matt to fit them after our first season's sailing when I decided they were at risk from damage. They do a very good job and should be on the options list if not already there. Looks like some standard domed SS strip that has been used and screwed on.
-
They're not on the 'options' list for the BC23.
But having seen this thread I have asked for them to be fitted. The rudder profile on the 23 apparently does make them difficult to fit though. Money well spent from the off set I believe.
