Having just updated the price for my BRe on the for sale section, I noticed some topics dated March 25?

Bit odd!

Is all OK with the date system?

This is an odd one that was first reported to us by a forum member on 4th January.  I have tried to fix it on the forum's various behind-the-scenes admin pages, without success.  As far as I can tell, forum posts automatically take their date and time from the server where the website is located, which leads me to speculate that the date on the server is the problem rather than it being a glitch in the software.  I'm hoping that this and a long standing issue with the library will get sorted out in the next week or so.

Meanwhile, we continue to deal with numerous and persistent scammers and spammers attempting to subvert the site.  They normally don't get far but it sometimes feels like trench warfare with Russians, Chinese and others facing us across no man's land.  There are currently 752 IP address ranges under permanent ban from the forum, more than twice what there were in the autumn.  Yesterday more than 250 attempts on the site from banned IP addresses were automatically rebuffed.  Attempts from six new IP addresses led to new permanent bans.  Three would-be members reached final approval stages but were eventually detected and deleted.  This morning a spammer from a Russian IP address wanted to welcome us in seven different posts to the wonders of sharia-based finance.

I think that several of the spammers are using AI to generate bogus applications for forum membership, so the answer may be to install a forum plugin with similar AI-type capabilities.  Some plugins can block IP's from entire countries and also anyone using a VPN to disguise their origins.  Watch this space!

Hello,

Sorry for my silence on this but I've been abroad since late December. I also assume this is a server issue, so I have contacted the hosting company because I don't have access to change fundamental settings like this. They normally respond fairly quickly so hopefully this will be fixed soon. I will then try to correct the dates on posts made while the clock was wrong but I can't guarantee this will work.

Graham - jetlag largely under control and I will look at the Library issue this week too.

This is very odd. The server's date is correct, all configuration is correct and the correct dates are stored in the database. The correct dates are being shown for posts made today but previous posts this month have the incorrect date, but I can't find where these dates are being generated. This problem started on 1st January. I will continue investigating but so far am at a loss to explain this.

*EDIT* More odd, this post had the correct date when I posted but the displayed date has changed to March. I'll keep investigating...
