WaterTribe Events in the USA run various long distance sail & oar races in Florida, Minnesota and North Carolina.  Their 300-mile Everglades Challenge is probably the best known of these.  Think Sail Caledonia on steroids, with hot weather and snakes.

In an attempt to warn off novice sailors who think that their events might make a nice day out, and possibly to inject a bit of reverse marketing into their campaign, they have published this doom-laden warning about their events https://www.watertribe.com/PDF/MustRead/WaterTribeWarning.pdf.  Some of it might even be true!

Well - at least I don't need to worry about rattle snakes, alligators or pythons in my risk assessment for this season's sailing on balmy UK waters!

To encourage my raid crews to row faster, I claim to be able to hear banjos.
