New Swallow 32

Although it’s only May, July’s Yachting Monthly has just arrived on my electronic library subscription.  It features a brand new design for an epoxy ply Swallow 32, which is trailerable, just.  It has both lead (600kg) and water (900kg) ballast and with the tanks empty comes in at 2,300kg.  It has a pleasingly retro style above the waterline, reminiscent of the BC23 rather than the BC26.  Yours for £154,000 plus VAT.

I can’t find any mention of it on any of the Swallow sites but no doubt they will be coming soon.  In the meantime here’s an artist’s impression.

Looks like a classic already. I shall transfer my unrequited desire for a Cornish Crabber Pilot Cutter 30 to the SY32 - partly coz it's just trailerable.

Reading the Yachting Monthly article again, a couple of things in addition to the usual water ballast/shoal draft/trailerability make the 32 stand out.  First it is designed to have as low an environmental impact as possible - the plywood construction is only epoxy glass sheathed below the waterline.  This will make it much easier than GRP to recycle at the end of its life.  And the 32 is clearly aimed at families - there is a “child’s double” berth under the starboard side of the cockpit, the cockpit itself is nice and long and it terminates in a drop-down bathing platform on the stern.

I'm  not sure how sustainable  Divinycell foam epoxy is tho...but I can claim that it has  "widely recycled" Alloy spars

I see headroom is quoted at 1.89m. I guess a yacht of this scale allows standing headroom, without "compromising" great styling?

I wonder if there will be a market for something this style/size/weight as a Mega yacht "toy"?
A pal at sea in that industry told me that their tender (yes tender! Actually a converted offshore supply vessel) Carried  a 30ft sailing yacht, in davits, a Wally Yacht I think?

Ah, but which part Rob? The anchor was the first thing I bought for my boat whilst waiting for it to be built....
