BRe Electical Power Supply
« on: 29 Apr 2023, 03:23 »
Comment/Thoughts on the attached electrical power supply design I am considering installing on my BRe. Not an electrical engineer, so all comments are welcome.

Purpose - to supply power during week-long adventure races with no motor or outside assistance criteria.

Design Criteria – (1) Battery height no greater than 152 mm to fit under the cabin cushion boards (2) Provide five days of power at 20 AMH per day (3) Recharge to total capacity in less than 24 hours (4) Light as possible and (5) Simple

Source two Power Queen 100 AH LiFePO4 MINI batteries - width of 133mm that can be installed on their side. Wire batteries in parallel.  85 % battery efficiency should meet the daily AMH without completely discharging the batteries. Battery weight 9 kg. IP65 rating.

Victron Smart Shunt – Measure battery metrics and display on a smartphone through Bluetooth. A smart shunt will monitor battery temperature. No wiring or gauge will be installed on BRe.

NOCO – GenPro 10*1 battery charger – Waterproof – 10 AMP output – This output is the highest amperage in the system. Wire size will be calculated at 20 amps, and fuses will be 15 amps.

NOCO – AC Port Plug connection to the battery charger. 15 AMP capacity. Waterproof.

Load Center – Already installed on BRe by Swallow Yachts.
