What does the attached photo depict?
1.  A pedestrian walkway under the A4 at Hounslow
2.  The vaults at the HQ of Royal Bank of Scotland
3.  A legacy project from the Athens Olympics
4.  None of the above?

My guess is 4. None of the above. Its the inside of the water ballast tank and I claim my prize. Sadly I found it quite interesting as I'm thinking of adding a ballast tank to my storm 17.

Correct!

The lines of off-white crazy foam are what had been used to secure the blue polystyrene blocks to the roof of the tank, which explains why they aren't there any more.  I'm going to replace them with a 35 litre dinghy buoyancy bag each side.  I'll report back in due course on whether that works.

interesting idea Clem. I had an unintended try at water ballast when I got blown onto a pier on Coniston by a gust from nowhere. It was very entertaining for the crowds I am sure. didn't notice any change to the handling but when cleaning up found the additional ballast in the port buoyancy tank. Repairs in progress.
